2018 Festival Wrap-up and Winners:
(OIL CITY, PA) - This year, thirty-six films from around the globe screened at the third annual Oil Valley Film Festival from September 7 - September 9. The festival, once again, comprised competitive sections for American and international narrative and documentary films, both feature-length and short, a block of women and minority filmmakers, and a festival director-curated block.
Festival Director Matt Croyle stated, "We're really growing as an event. We've received such positive feedback. It's quite the undertaking to do this independently of any local marketing organizations and somehow reach filmmakers on every continent. A huge thank you to our sponsors. We're really looking forward to what next year brings."
The Oil Valley Film Festival is presented by and in partnership with Koehler Brewing, InkTip, Writers Store, iPitchTV, MaddyG TV, Oil City Library, Oil City Civic Center, Tipsy Chef, and Bridge Builders Community Foundations. A special thanks is given to Arts Oil City, the Oil City Main Street Program, Billy's, and the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce. The Oil Valley Film Festival receives operational support from One Fish Media.
For the first time, the Oil Valley Film Festival awarded Special Jury Prizes to individuals whose outstanding achievement deserved recognition even though they may not have won their specific categories. Those Special Jury Prizes went to: Bronagh Taggart for her acting in 'Guard,' Jason K. Allen for comedy screenwriting for 'That Smell,' and Pennan Brae for screenwriting for 'The Astronot.'
